Prayer for the Nymphs

from Flutations by Mad Dog Friedman

/

about

Double tracked olive wood drone with a heavy slice of reverb. The running water was sampled on Coal Creek, which was heavily damaged in the 2013 floods. During the summer of 2014, by the St. Vrain River at the freshly rebuilt Planet Bluegrass in Lyons, Colorado, I learned how to open myself to the gifts of the wooden flute. The river and land so recently ravaged taught me of these flutes' power to heal and their connection to the spirits of nature. This is what inspired this composition.
