One Light

from ONE WORLD by Mad Dog Friedman

/

about

Inspired by the lines from the Incredible String Band song, "Douglas Traherne Harding":

"One light, light that is one though the lamps be many

You never enjoy the world aright
'Till the sea itself floweth
In your veins till you are clothed
With the heavens and crowned with the stars."

lyrics

Spoken Word is M. D. Friedman's poem, "Universal":

Sunlit
seed heads nod
in eager waves.

Golden grass bends
in an agreeable wind
now and again,

same air
pulses through
each of us.

No matter
how old
or alone,

we bow our heads
to the same
light within.
